River Markings

Casey Coolwell-Fisher

The Brisbane River is surrounded by many markings, including water ripples, Yimbin reeds, and water rats.

Blaklash were engaged by Seksui House to develop an appropriate narrative response for inclusion on the Acknowledgment of Country marker for West Village. We engaged artist Casey Coolwell-Fisher to create the artwork that features on the placemaking outcome that was delivered by Strategic Spaces.

This artwork represents the markings of the Brisbane River, mostly around West End. The river is represented in the curved line, and the Yimbin Reeds and Water Rat footprints are depicted within the river, as the lines and dots. The circular background depicts the water ripples made by the river.
